We first
saw Birmans when we were house hunting in Bristol
in 1987 and viewed this house where these
beautiful cats were asleep on the bed. They were
Birmans…….
I was
enchanted; both with the cats and the house!! We
were lucky to have our offer accepted on the house
and then our search began for a Birman to join us
and our two moggies in our new home.
Our first Birman arrived, a blue point female,
then a blue point male, shown as a neuter. Gally
had a very successful show career;
Two years later our first Norwegian Forest
Cat arrived (Rog was very impressed with the
size and temperament of these lovely cats) from
the same breeders as our Birmans.
We are the first breeders of the first
UK Grand titled cat in Great Britain.

As things
do, the showing continued and then along came the
first Birman female to show and breed from………a
lovely seal point named Sula, she has very
recently passed away (kidney failure)…………..
And here
we are today, still showing and breeding some 18
years later.
Both Rog
and I had been brought up with dogs as family pets
when we were children, so it seemed natural for us
to have one of our own to grow up with our own
children. We owned our first Labrador when Paul
and Zoe were babies and Suzy was so lovely her
breeder suggested we had a few litters from her.
Paul was only 6 months old when Suzy came to live
with us.
We had
four beautiful litters from Suzy and the same stud
- stunning black dog. Suzy sadly was put to sleep
at 15 years of age.
Our next lab arrived four years ago; she was born
on Roger’s birthday which eased her introduction
into our home. Voo is black, from mainly working
lines and is a very strong tall legged bitch. She
had her first litter in 2004. All
nine pups
survived and we kept a chocolate bitch named Peppa.
We hope to have a couple of litters from Peppa in
the future.
